Classes

Art Education (Pre K-K, 1st-3rd Grade, 4th-6th Grade, & 7th-12 Grade)

This one hour class is designed for families who wish to have their child/children interact with other children. This class provides a great opportunity for your child/children to experience the freedom of using their imagination. Each child will be given the opportunity to work with a wide variety of medias including: Painting, Constructivism Sculpture, Drawing, Collage and/or Mixed Media. They will also become educated in Art History, as each piece of art created will tie into a specific time period, style of art, or a specific artist.

Intro to Drawing
Instructor: Paige Anderson
(Maximum students: 9)
This one hour class is designed for children who have a desire to concentrate solely on developing their drawing skills. Students will learn to draw from observation and imagination. Each child will be given the opportunity to work with graphite, charcoal, india ink, chalk, and oil pastels. After the children have gained an understanding for sketching and gesture drawing, we will begin more complex assignments, which may take several hours to complete.

Intro to Painting

(Maximum students: 7)
This one hour class is designed for children who have a desire to concentrate solely on developing their painting skills. Students will learn to paint both realistic and abstract. Each child will be given the opportunity to paint with acrylic and watercolor. They will also become educated in Art History, as each painting created will tie into a specific time period, style of art, or a specific artist.

Intermediate Drawing/Painting

(Maximum students: 4)
This one and a half hour class is designed for children who have a desire to concentrate solely on developing their drawing and or painting skills. Children are encouraged to have taken at least one year of drawing/painting classes before entering this level. Each child will be given the opportunity to concentrate in drawing, painting or both. The class time will be divided in two parts for those who wish to participate in both. Graphite, Charcoal, India Ink, Pastels, Colored Pencils, Acrylic and Watercolor will be available for use. Similar to other classes offered, the children will also be educated in Art History, as each piece of art created will tie into a specific time period, style of art, or a specific artist.

Intro to Collage

(Maximum students: 6)
This one hour class is designed for children who have a desire to concentrate solely on developing their collage skills. Students will learn to collage using both found and store bought materials. We will spend time outdoors searching for and gathering unique objects to incorporate. The children will be encouraged to let their imaginations run wild as the possibilities are endless when creating collages! They will also become educated in Art History, as each collage created will tie into a specific time period, style of art, or a specific artist.

Intro to Constructivism Sculpture

This one hour class is designed for children who have a desire to concentrate solely on developing their sculpture skills. Students will learn to construct sculptures using both found and store bought materials, including, wire, modeling clay, wood, scrap metal, cardboard, buttons, string, foil and anything else imaginable! We will also spend time outdoors searching for and gathering unique objects to incorporate. They will also become educated in Art History, as each collage created will tie into a specific time period, style of art, or a specific artist.

Adult Art Education

Although Just Be Free Art School is primarily focused towards teaching children, we believe it is important to remain young at heart, and would love for everyone to be given the opportunity to explore their imagination. This one and a half hour class is designed for adults of all ages who wish to experience freedom through art. Engaging in art is such a wonderful way let loose, relax, and unwind. Each adult will be given the opportunity to work with a wide variety of mediums including: Painting, Constructivism Sculpture, Drawing, Collage and/or Mixed Media. Like the children, adults will also become educated in Art History.

Private Classes
Instructor: Paige Anderson
This one hour class is designed specifically for families who wish to have their child/children in a “one-on-one” atmosphere. This class provides the same education opportunities as the other Art Education classes, including working with a wide variety of medias and Art History. This class is also for the families who wish to have all of their children working together in the same class. They will still have the benefits of a private atmosphere, as well as the pleasures of working together as a family.

Nature Documentary
Instructor: Austin Anderson
(Minimum Students:1, Maximum students: 6)
This one and a half hour class is designed for children who love to explore plants, trees, insects, animals, and anything else found throughout nature! Students will spend time filming both indoors and outdoors, as they explore and examine various living and nonliving things. Together the children will write and create a 5-10 minute documentary based on the facts they gathered. They will become educated in Film History, as the documentary created will tie into a specific Genre. They will also spend time discussing and looking at clips of well known producers, actors, and directors in relation to the genre being studied.

Mystery Movie

(Minimum Students: 3, Maximum students: 6)
This one and a half hour class is designed for children who love clues, problem solving, and secrets! Students will spend time brainstorming and writing their very own piece of the puzzle. They will each be given the opportunity to dress up as different characters as they film and solve a 5-10 minute mystery! They will become educated in Film History, as the movie created will tie into a specific Genre. They will also spend time discussing and looking at clips of well known producers, actors, and directors in relation to the genre being studied.

Music Video

(Minimum Students:1, Maximum students: 6)
This one and a half hour class is designed for children who love singing, dancing, and being a star! Students will spend time, brainstorming costumes, choreography, and personalized backgrounds to be filmed using the green screen. Each child will brainstorm song choices, later choosing the most favored one, and filming a one-of-a-kind music video to be cherished forever! They will become educated in Film History, as the movie created will tie into a specific Genre.They will also spend time discussing and looking at clips of well known producers, actors, and directors in relation to the genre being studied.

Comedy Movie

(Minimum Students: 3, Maximum students: 6)
This one and a half hour class is designed for children who love to let loose, laugh, and just have fun! Students will engage in several improve exercises, designed to loosen up their minds to “think outside the box.” They will also practice voice impersonations, later writing and filming their very own piece of a 5-10 minute comedy! They will become educated in Film History, as the movie created will tie into a specific Genre. They will also spend time discussing and looking at clips of well known producers, actors, and directors in relation to the genre being studied.
